Well of Sorrow, Ocean of Love
Melissa Stock is a spiritual director, retreat leader, and grief walker. Dean Clemmer is a psychotherapist with a deep interest in the role of spirituality in human growth. Together they have more than 50 years of sitting with those whose hearts have been broken open by the paradox of joy hidden within sorrow. Drawing from various art forms, personal experience, and contemplative practice, they will offer creative resources to help others express grief and move toward healing. Ultimately, we will all lose everything we love. To be present in the face of suffering is an act of love, connecting us to God and our deepest vulnerability as human being.

Melissa has led retreats and Taize services throughout central Pennsylvania, often sharing leadership with her husband until his death in 2016. Poetry, the outdoors, and contemplative practices continue to sustain her as she embraces the paradoxes of griefwalking. Melissa offers spiritual direction from her home in Mechanicsburg.
Dean Clemmer is a psychotherapist with over 37 years of working with individuals, couples and families. He is particularly interested in mining the meaning in life events and in exploring how the spiritual and  the psychological intersect.  He is an accomplished guitarist and composes pieces with a contemplative flavor which will also be woven into the workshop.
