Annual Poetry as Prayer Day: Devotions

Celebrating the Life and Poetry of Mary Oliver

  September 10, 1935 – January 17, 2019

For over fifty years as a published poet, Mary Oliver strolled through the fields and knelt in the grass, paying good attention to the created world and the human condition. Mary had a wondrous way of finding and polishing the right words to beckon us more deeply into our blooming world. Her large volume of selected poems, published in 2017, is aptly named Devotions.  We will let her poems be our devotion this day. We will follow the notes of her praise, as we celebrate her life and the precious gift of her words among us.
